Celebrating togetherness

I waited and saved for 10 years before i bought my own home.It was inspired by magazines like Country homes and Gardens so the interior design was English chintz and wooden carved furniture,oak cupboard,plaster ceilings and ornate mirrors.Now im proud of my cultural identity as a Malaydian Chinese.i decorate my home as eclectic south east asian n modern scandi furniture.kitchen is japanese minimalist,furniture is sofas,carved gilded chinese side cabinets,porcelain stool,bamboo plants,indian bronze screen,carved wooden mandalas,red chinese quilts,myanmar nagas,wayang kulit,batik waus,blue altar table and japanese alcove tokonoma with stone n paper lantern,chinese ink wash scrolls.im proud of my Asian roots but embrace western designs like L shape sofa,chaise lounge and kopi tiam marble top table. so its LOL when US congressmen grilled Tik Tok CEO Shou Zi Chew who is a Singaporan Chinese of being a patriotic China citizen.Excuse me,do they understand the geopolitical dynamics of SouthEast Asia and East Asia.One has a communist state and the other a democratic state.We share the same Sino DNA but as South East Asian we embrace multiculturalism and diversity of food,languages and lifestyles.Its like the the new Secretary of US defence not being able to name a single member nation of Asean and confusing Asean For Ankus or anti Asian hate directed at Vietnamese,Korean or Japanese or Mongolians coz they all look alike. Here is lunar new year in a chinese neve village with wooden houses,red paper couplets n the kumquat tree with children playing sparklers n lion damcers n drinking F and N green spot orange fizzy drinks,Sarsi and ice cream soda when kuih bangkit n love letters and white rabbit milk sweets are treats.celebrating togetherness is a good tagline.

Good ol Cantonese food

For dinner i steamed the golden pomfret in mushroom ginger chilli soy sauce,stir fried kung pao szechuann style shredded chicken,bean sprots,chives,shitake n shumeiji mushrooms n bell peppers.dpuble boiled chicken soup with tiger milk mushroom,honey dates,bitter almond,snow pear .so healthy Chinese cuisine.for lunch i ate at hot n spicy cafe in giant kota damansara.they cooked a great lontong with rice cakes and a chicken.betgedil and lots of cabbage,long beans,carrot n tempe n glass noodles. i found out monkey king pussy has been jumping to catch the red banners😄🐵🙉🙈🐵swing and twirl on the cloth banners before the duct tape snaps and he is rolled up in the banner,screaming for help to extricate himself.monkey pussy is naughty.

Exercise

i keep my fitness routine to 5 days of workout n 2 days of rest n recovery.

Nourishing food

i bought herbal supplements to nourish my lungs and tonify it so i wont catch the flu during lunar new year.the tiger milk mushroom i boil with cordycep flower,bitter almond,dried snow pear and tangerine n chicken ribs. i also bought a packet of baos made into tangerines and had red bean paste.Now im eager to celebrate New year and bought tigermilk mushroom with soy milk

Ive spruced up the altar and balcony garden for the lunar year.its so welcoming to see the bursts of colourful red,pink and purple and orange.

Malaysia is truly Asia

The economic development of Malaysia owes its success story of the contributions of migrant labour from all over Asia.They remit earnings back to support their families in their native lands. We have the Nepalese security guards protecting our property.Then the hardworking Bangladesh and Indonesian cleaners keeping the streets clean.We have semi skilled Indonesian contruction workers building roads,LRT houses and malls.The Indonesian and Filipino work as domestic helpers or nurses.The Myanmar workers work in SME factories or as waiters and kitchen helpers.The Thai females work as GROs or masseurs.The Indians work as cooks in restaurants and the Vietnamese as hawkers selling street food or waiters or sales assistant in retail trade..The Indonesians work in palm oil plantation and agriculture. Malaysia is truly Asia.Today i went to a Malay cafe Hot n Spicy in Giant Kota Damansara.I think they are Indonesians as i bought javanese nasi ambeng and vietnamese spring rolls.this was a small cafe with 3 tables but business was good so they expanded to 2 lots and 7 tables their lontong is sedap. i stock up for new year buying black and goldem pomfrets at rm 8 each.i also bought a honey smoked spring chicken for rm17.i cooked potato gnocchi in mushroom sauce with carrot,mushroom,chicken meatball n breastmeat of smoked chicken.the drumstick n wing i will use for lunch tomorrow with mashed potato n a salad.the remainder of chicken shreds i cook with bell pepper n onion as szechuan stir fried .zo one spring chicken can be used for 3 meals i really have to stretch the ringgit to cook healthy meals.

New year deco

spring clean to prepare for Lunar New year.the wet and cold weather feels like spring.i changed to lotus lanterns,draped the chinese couplets,fixed a gold fish kite to the walls and decorated with chinese fans and mirrors around the rooms. looking forward to new year feasting n meeting relatives for new year.also the zumba dance party in cheong sam is fun
