The alarming fact that UN Food and Agricultural Organization research shows the level of self sufficiency in food supply globally shows most nations depend on import of food.Keeping the supply chain open is vital for food security. Only Guyana a South American nation achieved self sufficiency in 7 of the critical 7 categories of common food staples.but temember its a small nation with a low population of 800,000.But the admirable nations both communist states that are ranked 2nd and 3rd are China with a population of 1.4 billion and Vietnam with 101 million which is the third most populous state in South East Asia. What is wrong with Malaysia that we even import staple like rice,potato,green vegetable,onion and garlic.Are they looking after the rice bowl of the average people or are the politicians too busy with war of words or not bothered to help us cari makan. Why keep on increasing the cost of living of the rakyat ?When political in. fighting scares away investors like the fight between Petronas and Sarawak Petros sees a US billion dollar investment cancelled and the governments cash cow has to downsize by retrenching its workforce ,what are the economic consequences on employment and lower domestic consumer demand in time of external global trade war and tariffs.Look at what may happen like in Japan where people queue long lines just to buy rice teleased by government stockpile as the price of rice skyrockets .Building skyscrapers would not feed hungry stomachs nor construct Madani city at a time the Forest City has become a world renowned Ghost city while the average citizens turns into hungry ghosts. imposing sales tax on healthy fruits is gonna see Malaysians with increase in obesity and rise in health problems.like cancer and heart attack.Fruits and vegetables are listed as non essential food items.But research shows they provide fiber,trace minerals ,healthy fats like avocado and anti inflammatory effects of oranges,lemon,berries and not much of it is found in local fruits that cost a bomb from durian,durian belanda,chempedak or dragon fruit.So a heavily carbohydrate starch based and meat based diet will see increase in colon cancer,stomach cancer or diabetes. If the govt is so cash strapped,why increase the salaries of all employees in the civil service while passing the burden to average rakyat who face increase in cost of living.

Cat is family

Pussy is a part of the family.This morning i took him out for a cat walk as he is getting too fat and lazy.i put the red leash around his neck but lazy cat lie down on the pavement and refused to walk or explore.The little kids petted him and when he saw a female tabby hiding in the bushes looking at him,he ran and snarled n chased her away.When its snow white,he makes eyes at her and purrs. i carried him to laundromat and the customers praised him for his shiny fur and white tummy.i felt like a proud pawrent. When i cane home from work,they were fogging outside the condo.the thick fog was choking him so i quickly opened the balcony door and he rushed in.He sought comfort hiding in his grey felt house as i let him drink water. he took a nap for 2 hours and when he woke up,i fed him cat treats of salmon and cod.he loves good food like Jun.My two boys are like siblings with the same temperament eat and sleep.ha ha

Actors and Authors have unstable careers

The creative industry promises fame and fortune if you are a popular actor or writer.The creative industry is not a stable career.Like musicians and painters sometimes the chance of making money depends on luck and the support of fans So i find that financial security is lacking in the creative industry.Many not so famous actors and singers in Hong Kong need to turn to gig economy,working as hawkers,security guards or waiters to support their family. So pragmatic for artists and entertainers to acquire more skills to support the family as talent alone cant feed the family.At the end of the day,at least an honest days work is not glamourous but pays the bills. A trade union for artists would ensure better security like pensions in old age.I really take my hats off to musicians and artistes who give their all to chase their dreams. I really admire multi talented artistes like Bob Dylan who is a fantastic portrait painter and a renowned composer and singer who won the Nobel prize for poetry or the sexy bombshell Sharon Stone in her acting skill and now transition to an abstract expressionist artist.But how many artistes are multi talented like Nicholas Tse who can sing,act and cook.So there needs to be some social security support for artistes in our modern world.

Sunday beautiful sunday

All of us love dancing Kiara Zumba gang is multiracial and multigenerational.Some of us have been dancing since before Covid 19 lockdown.The old boomers range from 50s to 70s while the younger ones are in late 20s.Sometimes we old boomers will lead the dance and sometimes we follow the younger ones who lead.Ken likes zumba and this morning he led in a new dance.lucky he slows down and breaks it step by step. After that i joined the gang for roti canai breakfast.We tested who had the strongest grip strength by arm wrestling.i lost hands down to those in early 50s.They ate so strong that i wince in pain in their grip.I really must train hard to give them a killer grip.jia you.never give up hope At 5pm i went to nite market to buy street food.the weather was hot and humid as the sun had not set.I bought the Malay food cooked by the Chinese lady🔥.the cockles sambal looked sizzling hot and Jun favourite chicken rendang.The Chinese cook good Malay food and the Malay cook Chinese cakoi or deep fried dough sticks and herbal drink leng zhi gang and curry chicken bao. I saw this stall Lao Ma selling Chinese hamburger,a deep fried flatbread with minced pork and salted vegetable n cabbage.Its northern Chinese cuisine.i love the home cooked taste like Moms pork burgher juicy n crunchy with onions,tonite the moon in the sky is brighter than the street lamp. Late evening i went to swim as pool had no kids playing ball. so refreshing to cool down in the silent and peaceful water as I swam 6 laps non stop but i increase by extra one lap each week till i can swim 10 laps.Slow and steady to improve my stamina. Tonite after swimming i saw the full moon so dazzling in the sky,bright as the street lamp.nite fall is magical so that kitty loves to sleep on his back on my quilt to watch the revolving twinkling stars and moon on my ceiling as the special nite light hypnotises him.

i workout before I eat breakfast so this morning i filled up my water bottle and went to do zumba in the park.It was so hot outdoors with a glaring sun.After zumba i drove to the mamak restaurant near home for my roti canai ,teh tarik fix but forgot it was Hari Raya Haji holiday and the restaurant was closed.So was the poolside cafe and kopi tiam in the condo. I was feeling dizzy as i was walking past the laundromat .low blood sugar is risky so when i saw a .Malay lady at the tables at the waiting atea of the laundromat with lemang,rendang,lontong,sambal,eggs,prawn sambal,peanuts n anchovy mix,i was drooling and stomach growlingI asked her how much her breakfast cost as i wanted to buy food. She laughed as i asked in Malay and she spoke Indonesian.The group of ladies were Indonesian migrant workers who lived and worked in the condo.Tbe worker in the laindromat knew me because i often gave cat kibbles to her to feed Mimi the stray cat in her laundromat. She said they were celebrating Hari Raya Haji by having a potluck breakfast.No wonder the food looked so delicious.She offered me a plate and welcomed me to join them to eat.Im a true Malaysian when it comes to makan.i ate with the migrant workers as they cracked jokes about the indo mee being better than malaysian maggi mee and us copyinv their cooking of nasi uduk,nasi padang and mee jawa.Im proud to be a Malaysian Chinese who embrace multiculturalism as i can converse with them openly and make friends easily.Whdn they eat with their hands,i followed suit eating lemang and tendang with my hands.When you are in Rome do as the Romans do.. The migrant workers were generous to share breakfast with me.So i feel multiculturalism extends our worldview.For lunch i cooked Chinese dumplings in tomato soup Jun had braised wantan mee with chicken and spinach n pickled lettuce.For dinner i cooked potato gnocchi with truffle cheese sauce i bought from Jimmy Tartufi truffle sauce,chicken,spinach and breaded scallops. I eat Indonesian breakfast,Chinese lunch and Italian dinner.Yipee for multiculturalisation and globalisation.

Traditional Cantonese opera or yue kak is a dying art form as young people no longer watch shows with content they cannot relate to.So Hong Kong is very creative to use a modern theme like the Trump tariff trade war n Ukraind conflict to lure young people back to watch opera. Come on who cares for megalomaniac Chinese emperors when contemporary megalomaniacs are more relatable in the modern day.Who cares for undying love of concubines when a quick scroll on Tinder can set your heart on fire with hundreds of dates . Hong Kong brings out the best of East meets West literally.When young people flock to watch opera,the artistic skills of the singing and orchestra is preserved and reinvented to suit the modern age.Noone can related to a man with a red or green mask and stylised facial expressions.But the orange wig is universally recognised and come on using long spears and broad swords to fight is outdated but a watergun.wow thats so cool . Maybe entertainment has to come up with new venues and ideas like watching Cantonese opera while dining on fine Cantonese cuisine.or have tourists excited about learning to sing a few lines,dressing up and taking part in the opera as an interactive play.If its the journey to the west opera,i would love to play the character the white bone devil or one of the monkeys.Tourist nowadays prefer immersive experience and instagram moments. better still if a zipline is set up on the stage i would love to be a swordsman flying down with a sword like a hero from the outlaws of the marshes with smoke effect and light and sound show of rain and lightning.thats the most wonderful way to make memories for tourists. hmmm if the hong kong tourism wants fresh new ideas to attract tourists.hire me how about being an apprentice in Nicholas Tze cookery show in which he sets up a Hells kitchen wearing devil horns and cooking fiery Devils curry.so crazy cool la
