Malaysia new era filmmakers

 Living in a multidiverse society,we become good storytellers as the rituals,values n outlooks are varied n multi nuances adds complexity to a story.i watched the movie Abang Adik and cried thro the superb acting n directing.msian filmmakers are coming to the forefront of the big screen globalwise.we had the japanese,china and south korean wave.its time to hear our stories as a multicultural perspective.tiger stripes won rave acclaims internationally,pendatang n rain town are upcoming new stars.

We have to go back to indie moviemakers like james lee,tan chui mui, to see the way it evolved until it reached hollywood status of james wan.

Our talented creatives are recognised globally despite the restrictions and limitations placed by a policy that is influenced by politicking and the frog under the coconut shell jaguh kampung mentality.

Abang adik is reflecting the migrants n stateless people predicament.tsai ming liang did it with his tale of the indonesian migrant in sleepless in KL.Taiwan,Hong Kong n China has given backing to our upcoming filmmakers.kudos to them and our local talents that we the audience can widen our choice of movies to view.

Live life with a vengence

 Ive put on 1 kg so feastival is fattening.msia is foodie paradise and im spoilt for choice for meals.

Its easy to eat but hard to lose weight.but i love to eat.so im thankful to live in msia where all food is accessible.happy 2024.my motto this year is Live Life with a Vengence cause you only Live Once.thankful to survive Covid twice,no war in msia and no earthquakes.so eat,travel,sing and dance as time waits for no man.live life to the fullest.live with no regrets.live with no  surrender.live and let live.

New year 2024

 I had happy reunion lunch with my two elder sisters,brother in law n niece for winter solstice festival or dong zhi but i had disaster cooking frozen tong yuen as it burst in boiling water spilling sesame paste inside.i have been overeating from vacation,year end gathering.i cooked penang asam laksa to whet my craving.to cure indigestion did yoga asana for bloating.

Western lunch n nyonya dinner

 I cooked a shepherds pie with mock mince meat,celery,carrot n onion in tomato sauce.i ate a mushroom chicken pie in puff pastry,leftover quiche,a fruit dessert of papaya,chiku n avocado n a lime juice.dinner i cooked ayam pong teh with potato n shitake mushroom,a asam sourish fish slices in tamarind sauce with fresh pineapple n torch ginger n stir fried lettuce.

Cat from hell

 Diabolical cat completely thrashed up the potted plants on my balcony when i refused to let him come in to play.the cat with an attitude threw a temper tantrum and this meltdown beats a 2 year old terrible tantrums.jumped n upset three flower pots.lucky its made of plastic.the soil was strewn all over the floor.ripped off the leaves off my favourite plant.he upset a pot that had bonsai decoration of a porcelain bridge and a chinese philosopher meditating.now the philosopher is headless.the green yellow porcelain bird in another pot fell and broke into a million pieces.i m heartbroken as the miniature statues have been with me for 10 years.i gave him tough love,a good soaking with the water gun,a tongue lashing and no treats for a week.i put the other bird statue high up in a hanging basket of plants.im furious with the frisky bad tempered diabolical cat.

 Weekend is dance marathon to workout the calories ive overeaten this festive season.burn out before i bloat.

Food delight

 Had brunch of earl grey tea,pineapple tarts,mixed nut tart,mini quiche,sugee buttercake n a bowl of papaya n chiku.good food and good friends make a good life.the batik tea coaster was a handmade gift and  the box of durian wafer roll a gift from another friend.

Jun says hard to lose weight when im on a cooking spree.lunch is thai green curry laksa with seafood like fish otak otak,crabstick n squid with cucumber shreds n bean sprouts

Dinner im cooking melaka portugese grilled sting ray.i bought a packet of chilli portugese sauce from the famous grilled fish stall.i got a bargain price for 6 slices of sting ray at rm 15.its a quick sale of half price.usual price is rm 38 for 6 pieces.i marinate with salt,grated ginger n shallot before putting sauce,ladys fingers n tomato n grill in oven for 45 mins..

Poetry

 Poem writing is a catharsis for pent up emotions.i had the good fortune to attend performance poetry workshops organised by the British Council.both Jacob Sam La Rose n Benjamin Zephaniah were awesome especially Benjamins dreadlocks.rip Benjamin

Writing poetry is like squeezing blood from stones

A word lost in the cobwebs of time

Digging out long buried memories

Its not some abstract ,snobbish recital

But a freaking explosion of non rhyme without

Reason

The pain that lurks behind the smile

Punching your way out of the barricade

Freeing your soul to live again

Best friends

 The friends i made in varsity have remained true.they are fun loving foodie and ive been hosted by many melaka friends who are hospitable from Woo Mee Yong,Eileen and now Lai Lee.i love delicious nyonya food and old buildings in jonker street as i love vintage stuff.Mee Yongs family lived in an old shophouse selling grocery in Jonker Street.it was long,dark n narrow and she took me to eat chicken rice balls.Eileen is a nyonya and has a doctorate in linguistic.she is an expert in Kristang language n speaks local Malay dialect like a pro.She took me to Portugese settlement for grilled fish.so many happy impressions of awesome peranakan cuisine.my Penang nyonya excolleague taught me to cook kerabu bok nee and perut ikan.now im adept at ayam pong teh,pie tee,pang susi,acar and itik tim.
