A nostalgic dish of chestnut
I really miss the rice dumplings or zongzi Mom made for dragon boat festival.She soaked the dried bamboo leaves a week before preparing the rice and fillings.i love the 5 spiced belly pork,dried oyster,shitake mushroom,salted egg yolk,mung bean filling.
and chestnuts.
When there is leftover chestnuts,she used them to cook my favourite braised chicken with shitake mushroom,chestnut,and carrot braised in oyster sauce For dinner i braised chicken drumstick with chestnut n mushroom.i added china red dates n morocco honey sweet dates.The sauce was perfect thick and cloying sweet with nostalgia.Jun loved it and licked the plate clean.i m happy when people enjoyed my cooking and say their stomach is happy as the good food gives good vibes.Although weather is terribly hot at 34 oc and stifling hot in the kitchen slaving over the hot stove,its worth the trouble to cook heartwarmming dishes.dim sum is in my cantonese blood.a touch of the ❤️ heart that is what dim sum means to a true blue Cantonese.
