those who abuse positions of power and authority shouldnt be condoned and protected.so in the catholic church,sexual abuse of minors were swept under the carpet for years and the perpetrators were relocated to other places to repeat heinous sexual abuse.the higher ups tried to cover up the cases until persistent investigative journalism brought them to light.religious figures who abuse others are not above civil prosecution. so buddhist monks who promote violence should be prosecuted as inciters of riots. buddhist leaders who break monastic rules of sexual assault n misconduct should similarly be prosecuted in civil courts and never allowed to teach publicly if they are confirmed as sexual predators.in the time of awakened feminist me too movements,the sexual predator cannot escape the crime he is hiding.sexual violations by religious figures damages the credibility of the faith and the values it promotes. power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
