The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
today,we booked the hong kong chinese restaurant Canton I in One Utama for a birthday celebration.they told us the chef had an emergency leave so a replacement chef was taking over.i felt like cancellation of booking.no matter the reputation,in a restaurant the proof of the pudding is in the eating.i have high expectations from my fussy culinary tastebuds.but my elder sister insisted on cantonese food so to please her,i decided to give the reolacement chef a chance.No regrets.every dish was perfectly cooked.the shrimp with oats n curry leaf was fragrant n non oily,the steamed minced pork was minced by hand not ground by machines so the texture was springy and tasted so GOOD like my granmas cooking.the superior soup was excellent with chinese yin choy and the sweet n sour pork was cooked by an expert in wok hey,the pork was caramelised without a thick starchy layer of cornflour and the sweet n sour sauce heavenly.this is excellent cantonese cuisine.
sister loved all the food and jun loved the gingerbread cake i baked.im happy to dine out with my family on special celebrations.a perfect meal with attentive service.we chatted until near closing time.sister is knowledgable n shared her thoughts on history of chinese tea and how the quality of the springvwater affects the taste of tea and even exact temperature for brewing tea.but in life we can choose our friends but not our family.she can be irritatingly fussy about food and makes me mad by being slow coach.but we learn to give and take as family is predestined to be siblings and child.we share the same blood unlike friends.
