Word of the year is Brain rot

Ive been doom scrolling from a war,pandemic,natural disaster to public stabbings of bystanders.If ive been glued to the smartphone surfing,it will lead to a condition of brain rot soon.I heard this morning from the ol ladies kopi tiam breakfast gang about an old lady friend who lives alone in a terrace house who got dementia facing 4 walls alone daily.It seems she got lost when she went for a stroll to the nearby park to exercise and forgot her house address and the way home.She walked in circles around the neighbourhood 4 times round and round when all rows of houses have the same design and when a neighbour gardening outside saw her trying to open the gate of an Indian familys home two doors away,she found a confused old lady who said the lock was rusty and she couldnt use the key to open the damaged lock.the neighbour led her back to the right house and this is scary as the brain rot is serious The ol lady gang exercise qi gong in the morning,socialize over breakfast at kopi tiam,play mah jong n have maids at home to help clean n cook.This is like my male colleague in his early 80s,teaches part time business law at 4 different varsities from University of Malaya to UTAR to Unitar and drives around town even teaching until 9pm at nite.His children n grandkids migrated n work overseas in Australia and his wife asked him to work to stay active.He walks in Kiara Park in the evening and had just got his PHD at 83 years old.definitely no sign of brain rot as he is tech s

avvy and teaches online classes too. i pray i dont get brain rot so im gonna continue creative writing and painting n reading n maybe pick up French songs.Functional body and mind is so important as we age.
