The young have died for freedom
The young have defiantly defended their freedom from being suppressed. From images of the young varsity students killed by the military in Tiananmen square to the military shooting 200 varsity students in Gwangju uprising in Korea, the young have given up their lives so that others will get to keep their rights to fteedom of expression, freedom of movementfreedom to inclusitivity and so on.
What is Han Kangs reaction to the declaration of martial law when she had written a novel on the Gwangju Uprising in the book Human Acts.Read her thoughts on the issue ,iam reading her novel Greek lessons and how evocative is her attention to visual details and so when one becomes voiceless, the other sensory faculties like the power of observation becomes more acute so when one protagonist becomes unable to connect through language, this is in direct opposite to the antagonist who is losing his sight and so his ears become his only tool to understand what is happening outside.
I think we take for granted what we have until something threatens to pull the rug from under our feet and we have a wake up call to appreciate what we have always taken for granted.
