Rabindranath Tagore

The picture of a flower in a botanical book is an information,
Its mission ends with our knowledge.
But in pure art,it's a personal communication.
And therefore until it finds its harmony in the depth of our personality,
it misses its mark.

Morning has its birds' songs,
and life's daybreak has the music of the child.
At every home comes to us this refrain of life with its pure note of beauty.
The bloom constantly is brushed off the world of man by the friction of its dirt,it is roughened and begrimed by the callous touch of age.

ink wash paintings

I love the ink wash paintings of monochromatic shades of black -the paintings of Gao XinJiang seeps through with the stark desolateness of a zen like landscape -amidst of which a solitary figure or a few amorphous shapes of men stands .There is a hint of detachment,of withdrawal from the affairs of the world and like the scholar philosophers of ancient China, they retreat to the wilderness for solace. The stillness of the natural landscape sweeps through the unflinching figures. The mood exudes an aura of vast emptiness of which the human is so insignificant by comparison. The deft strokes are so subtle and suggestively hints at the turmoil that the artist had undergone to be able to depict so much with so little.People who have undergone such pain have depths of intensity that comes through in their art, their music, their works.

experimental recipes for disaster

There's so much you can mix and match in cross fusion cooking before it tastes like something the cat dragged out of the trash bag and gobbled up the noodle with chocolate or some strange mush.

But some combinations seem to work well like jelly mooncakes or snowskin mooncakes.

I took a vegetarian paella recipe from the net and it seemed to work.

5 bowls of Cooked rice

small tin ofTomato puree

10 asparagus tips

1 red, yellow and green bell pepper cubed

handful button mushrooms

2 stalks of celery
1 big onion

1 tempe cubed and fried until lightly browned

peeled roasted chestnuts

garlic

basil leaves and a twig of rosemary

I hardboiled egg sliced

Steps

1.Fry onion with garlic

2. Put in peppers, celery and asparagus tips saute with tomato puree

3. Add in salt and pepper and a few tablespoons of water

4.Simmer .Vegetables should be crunchy, put in button mushrooms and herbs

5.Pour in rice and mix evenly

6. Garnish with chestnuts, cubed tempe and slices of egg.

Gonna try next
fried breaded button mushrooms, carrot and brinjal dipped in hummus.

I don't have Face book

Making small talk has never been a forte of mine but if people can keep track of each other doing every single mundane thing like iam at the LRT,I'm at the canteen,i'm at the bank,i'm in the loo.
it makes one appreciate how exciting our daily life is ,how utterly amazing one should feel to be stuck in a long traffic jam and oh give me a break from what exciting things a zillion of my friends are doing out there every minute and second so that I am addicted to keep checking them out.
Give us some space on this web from over -noseyness and in your face brutal honesty of your day's rants and raves.Spare us the excruciating details of verbal diarrhoea.Save Face lah.Write all about it in a memoir and make some big bucks when you are ageing and in dire need of attention.

Why can't handphones use solar operated battery as an alternative source of energy when we are in places where there is no power outlets?

Can handphones be designed to send electrical pulses like an attachment to a usb port thingy with message pads with pulse sensations - a portable message unit

Can handphones or a few handphones be used in emergency to send shock impulses for people who have sudden cardiac arrest

Widening gap income disparity cause social instability

What correlation can we draw from two news reports and the underlying assumptions or causative factors and the implied consequences?

When there is a wide gap in income distribution with wealth concentrated at the hands of a few and the majority facing high unemployment, income unable to support the basic needs of food, healthcare and education, the use of power to repress dissatisfaction and the use of legal means to silence critics?

That sounds increasingly familiar, doesn't it? In China,Beijing to stem the increase in crimes caused by the impoverisehed migrant "floating"labourers, their slums and ghetto homes are barricaded ,their entrance and exit monitored like customs checkpoints with curfew hours imposed, their land taken away without adequate compensation for" development" purposes like property development and so on.

Is that solving the root cause of the social problem? Why not provide employment so the young can remain in the rural areas, why not develop better facilities for the rural workers so that they need not migrate to urban areas or get sold by people traffickers to other countries?

In France, the rough suburbs are facing increasing civil unrest. There is a growing population of immigrants and industrial workers living in near ghettos where unemployment is high, public services are poor and resentment boils.Police and government officials fear that the poor suburbs could explode again because the underlying causes -high unemployment, few opportunities, drug trafficking and a sense of exclusion from society have changed little.

So what do the above two countries have as a model of economic development.
"Workers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains." Has the economic ideology of the communist/capitalist system done much to improve the quality of life of the industrial workers and the peasants?Has the French Revolution and the Communist Revolution able to give an equitable distribution of resources to all/ Has the so called class struggle changed anything from the aristocrats to the business magnates, the multi billion tycoons?

If technology causes loss of traditional jobs, what can we do to generate employment?

Zhang Yi Mou 's impression of Liu San Jie is a visual and audio banquet

The creative directing of Zhang Yi Mou resulted in a visual palette of colours, exploding into bright fiery torches lit against a backdrop of craggy limestone peaks, silky rippling waters of the Li river and well orchestrated music that resonates through the peaks. The sky has heard my prayers for although it rained on all other days,it was stunningly hot and dry on the day of the performance.
French art lovers would love the operatic elements of this musical.
Guilin is an environmentally pristine city unlilke the oceans and mountains of people in the more well industrialised coastal cities. The cacophony of vehicles are so jarring to the ears .
The rivers are crystal clear. We could learn more from their citizens on sustainable environment like electric motorbikes and the low rise buildings.
With my creaking bones,It would be a long, long time before I can venture to mountainous areas.

wow I miss my lap top

My spanking new acer is now at cold storage due to the spoilt sound card. How I miss the chance to try new graphics with its superb screen.Sigh

The new love story of the 21st century

A man falls in love with his computer. It listens to him hears him out without answering back.

He is a nerd but his passion for his machine is better as he interacts with it 24 hour

The Professor and the love of his life.

She provides the music to his life, organizes his day and solves the complex equations he inputs into her.

As he slowly disconnects with the outside world and his family life disintegrates as his wife slips into a coma after a stroke,he is sucked into the life of his virtual soulmate(Do computers have souls)

One day she went into a coma,a complete blackout-the screen went blank and he journeys into the program by attaching his brains with electrodes to find a way to revive his soulmate.

Can love be possible without physical attraction? Would minds win over matter?intriguing since the biological instinct for sex is the most primal one.

Would he prefer his wife to come out of the coma or his lap and soul?

I think I would vegetate if I were to stop teaching and become a stay at home woman.maybe I would turn into someone like my colleague who talks to herself or become real paranoid again.Maybe time to get a cute puppy to talk to? woof woof.

Then what does it mean?

Body idioms

Why are you sitting there all by yourself licking your wounds?

Cat got your tongue,is it?

You're pretty catty ain't you? Or you're some type of female canine.

No,it's just a tongue in cheek remark.Don't take it to heart.

Yeah, yeah I know I'm just tongue tied at the moment. F@#$ your mother!!

Whoa!is that your mother tongue?

Sorry, oops ,it's just a slip of the tongue.
but you are a sorry tale for a male with a face so pale that you can't make any sale

ha ha! that's a mighty funny tongue twister but I'll bite my tongue before I say something I might regret later.

Let's make peace .I cannot stand this tongue lashing anymore.

Music rocks

Music is the language without words
it strikes the heart by blowing away
the phrases and sentences like
prayers inscribed on thin wispy shreds of cloths
fluttering and flapping in the howling wind
a blowing of the conch shell mourns
the day the earth shattered

Music enbalms the hopes of a foetus aborted
as rocks pelt the unborn
the book of life and death
unpublished

Happy Hot Year

This has to be the hottest new year ever. It's sweltering in this sauna.

How I wish I were in a snow blizzard now anywhere .

The rubber trees will be shedding leaves like autumn.

My name is ice but why do I feel like a fiery lump of coal in a blazing furnace.

A hummingbird

Sometimes it's the smallest creature on earth that reminds me to appreciate the present.
Today as I got out of the car,I saw a yellow hummingbird in the folliage of orangey flowers, flapping its wings in mid air.But my camera phone could not capture her beauty-it was just a blurry image but it lifted my spirits. This morning, a heron or egret sailed majestically in the sky as dawn appeared.
Such a wonderful sight to behold when fires are raging in the hearts of men-the smallest creatures are up and about living for the day
