Reduce,reuse,recycle

 My sandals that ive used for 5 years has finally broken down beyond repair.it cost me rm35 and i spent rm10 replace the sole at cobbler.yesterday the side strap broke.i tape it with black tapes and limped around office.

When i went to shop for a new pair of female sandals,they cost a bomb from rm50 to rm100.i can better use the money to buy quality food.but buddha is kind to me.when i went to throw rubbish,someone threw away a good black pair of pvc boots on the floor.jun hates me when i collect thrash.i call it  a preloved treasure.thats how i found  garden pots,rattan baskets,porcelain mugs ,vases,picture frames all in good condition.

I recycle food.the fish curry,i debone fish meat to cook fish laksa.the chicken from bak kut teh i debone to cook ipoh soup noodle and chicken mayo sandwich.waste not,want not l learnt from my frugal mother who lived in post ww2 years.i wear boots to clean cat cage coz he cant bite my ankle.ha cat proof boots.

I buy golden kiwi n brocolli,potato from china,avocado msia,grapes from egypt n blueberry from south africa.now with devalue of ringgit,i bargain value for money.

Capian kitty is spoilt n pampeted pussy.upsets bowl of cheap non branded kibbles.demands branded whiska,purina n smartheart.bloody picky eater.

Question it

Buddhism doesnt encourage blind faith but in the Kalam

a sutra,Buddha asks us to question and test out if what he taught is true.so i feel organized religious structures put restrictions on what is true or false as interpreted by its intermediary.

But Buddhism is basically experiential.so individual Buddhist exponents in the West like Robert Wright and Stephen Batchelor examines Buddhism detached from its belief system and cultural baggage.

Look at Tina Turner and how Buddhism empowered her to let go of pain n suffering of an abusive marriage ,loss of health due to serious illness and death of her two sons.She weathered the ups and downs of life with hope and positivity and she reinvented herself to revive a flagging musical career.she embody buddhist value of letting go of fear n hate n gainimg wealth,fame n love in return.i think organized religion is  restrictive,prescriptive and punitive.spirituality is liberating n empowering.

Fragmented society

 At varsity i studied history n english literature under critical thinkers and intellectuals like Krishan jit,Khoo Kay Khim ,Salleh Ben Joned,KS Maniam.Fadzilah Amìn,Lim Chee Seng.

I think that Malaysian society is fragmented along ethnic and religious lines.Among the Malays,it seems fragmented between urban rural divide,secular educated and religious educated and now socio economic divide.Looking at how the states of Kelantan,Terengganu,Perlis n Kedah remained predominantly green wave with BN or PH hardly able to make a toehold in capturing the voter base in the last election,we  are seeing a split along Federated Malay states and Non Federated Malay states lines

If the green wave managed to penetrate the voter base in the Federated Malay states,PH should start taking note of why they failed to gain a toehold in Unfederated Malay States and do a post mortem to see their strengths and weakness.

Despite the lack of economic development in the unfederated Malay states,the electorate is staunchly loyal along parochial lines.the peasantry were taught not to challege status quo while political ruling elites were trained in special colleges of colonial policy to be adminstrators of civil service.

No use pointing finger and silencing educators.it was teachers and journalists of early Malay nationalism that oppose unfair colonial laws and repressive policies.they were not anti government per se but anti repressive laws,the lack of upward social mobility and lack of economic reforms as big multinationals were british owned from plantations to tin mines.

So after half a century of a dominant ruling party,the electorates woke up to the degeneration of the nation and now expect reforms to stop the rot like unfair laws .the french revolution is a lesson for entrenched rulers to expect a regime change when there is lack of improvement in the lives of the masses.

Shameful parents

 These are irresponsible parents to abandon 4 kids in public places including a 10 month old baby.even an animal will fight to protect its young.if they want to have fun,then use contraceptives.why bring children into this world if you cant afford to take care of them.let them be adopted as babies n grow up in    better homes.there are childless couples spending a fortune on ivf who love kids.let them be adopted as babies.now these poor kids will grow up feeling unwanted and insecure.the fault is with irresponsible parents,not kids.

Today I went shopping for fresh meat.lasi nite i ate the last stock of nugget,fresh green vege and eggs.i buy from giant at quick sale fish like jack yellowtail at rm 7 at a discount off peak hours.there is no oil in plastic bags and price of chicken went up by rm1 this month due to coming festivals.

I cooked gulai ikan and when i put it on my plate of rice,kitty jumped up and sniffed my fish.luckily jun was eating and shoo him away.greedy cat.

Diabolical cat

 Naughty kitty makes me so tired.he ran so fast zoomies around the house that i ne

arly tripped n fell over him.then he claimed the cushions on the sofa,curled up on it and refused to let me use them.the straw that broke the camels back was when he tried to figure out a way to catch my fish for a sashimi or sushi dinner.i lured him outside to balcony with whiska tuna n closed the glass sliding door.he put up a tantrum and tore the leaves off my holy basil plant.diabolical cat

Packed food

Breakfast custard bao,wine ginger chicken bao,dimsum,jasmine tean pink guava n local avocado from pn azizah in taman tun market.

Dinner i cook the last pack of processed meat coz i finish stock of fresh meat n green vegetable.its japanese cawan mushi with shumeiji mushroom n mock crab meat,stir fried cabbage n cucumber with shredded chicken,fried nuggets,fish n mock scallops.

 Lunch is home cooked spaghetti in minced chicken bolognaise,pink guava n chinese tea.now i bring my own chinese tea bags to kopi tiam as i  dislike diluted chinese tea or green tea.i only ask for cup of hot water.

A trade off

 Its a trade off between retaining voters base and fiscal consolidation.

Pet therapy

 Captain kitty is not a privileged pedigree cat.hes a street cat and has instincts of a survivalist,fierce and aggressive nature,street smart ,quick reflexes,curious n observant.he saw us keeping the fish and rat wands on top of the table and tried to jump up to pull it down to play.cheap 2.00 toys excite him and stimulates him.

He found the dead fish i buried in my potted plant and dug it up.he knows from my tone of

voice if he has done naughty things and when  i reprimand him ,he will run and hide under chaise lounge or behind the curtains and peep at us.

I buy cheap kitty litter n kibbles at the 2.40 shop.he enjoys treat of wet food when he behaves himself.he brings a lot of  sunshine and laughter to my home.

Food inflation

 Inflation is eating into our disposable income.with the shrinking ringgit n removal of subsidy,its hard to make ends meet.ive just finished last grain of brown rice imported from.Cambodia as its cheaper than Sekinchan rice at rm 7 a kilo.3 kilos last one and a half months for two of us as we eat at home for all 3 meals.i got a bag of cooking oil to last 1 month.i need 30 eggs a month.a cake needs 5 eggs and quiche another 5 eggs.im left with 10 eggs this week to make french toast,egg roll and cawan mushi.

I replaced soles of my court shoes for rm10 to avoid buying new pair and cut my hair at indian barber for rm 10.i bake birthday cakes instead of buying them and dont eat artisan bread n cakes.eating healthy food like yoghurt,kefir,oat rye  or kombucha is very costly so i cut out massages,live entertainment or make up and facials and supplements.

Can they do something about our cost of living?

Live from hand to mouth

 Those of us on a fixed income can barely make enough to cope with rising cost of living.after paying house,car,insurance,maintenance,health care and childrens tuition and sports equipment,its a hand to mouth survival.

Its worst for those in the gig economy as the weather like floods or vehicle maintenance cuts into their unstable income.

People are desperately looking for cheap plastic bag of oil n local rice.my budget of 2 chickens for 2 weeks is gone n this weekend need to stock up chicken meat.my freezer has other meat enough for one more week.i got a bag of oil from mini mart.within an hour the whole carton was sold out to foreign workers,retirees and middle class working people.even coffee shop street food vendors buy them.the price of cooked rice went up by 50 cents.now i eat a variety from buckwheat noodles,sweet potato ti brown rice.

Instead of power struggles,take care of rakyat sendiris struggle to cari makan as its kais pagi makan pagi ķais petang makan petang.

Report card

 Yipee  i did the body composition analysis.i got

 36.1 kg muscle mass  out of maximum value of 37.n rated 5 for visceral fat out of 20.it really motivates me to workout daily thanks to fitness guru Romy for bringing his gym equipment to workout outdoors and fitness tips.

Kitty love

 Curiosity killed the cat.naughty puss is always exploring n tried to disturb the fish in the tank.have to keep look out 4 him.

Cooling weather

nature is awesome regenerating n healing.

My green leafy plant in a porcelain pot has been with me for 10 years.when i moved from 3 rented homes,it adapted to living indoors to outside the sunny balcony.when attacked by whitefly the leaves wilt n drop.i put organic baba pesticide n the leaves rejuvenated.in its forever home,naughty cat pulled out the roots.i repotted in new soil and its back to life.the flowering plant i grew 2 years ago finally bloomed red flowers.a long wait.with nature,you learn patience and hope the sun,soil and water work its magic.you cant speed up the recovery process so time slows down when youre in the garden.

Theres a time for planting and a time for harvesting

Theres a time for living and a time for dying.

Life moves in a cycle so you cant stop time.
 

Authentic meals

 I cooked shrimp roe wantan noodles imported from Hong Kong or har zi wan tan mee.meat celery

dumplings or jiao zhi and fish meat wantan w coriander.

For lunchbox its a chinese chicken stew in oyster sauce,shitake mushroom,carrot n

Potato n baked beans.

Ive an appetite for international cuisine.after a short nap,i do meal prep.dinner is yangzhou fried rice.lunch tomorrow is italian spaghetti carbonara with smoked duck,brocolli n bell pepper.breakfast is french mini quiche with chicken ham,cherry tomato n brocolli.

Im checking out turkish n myanmar food next.
