Sneak attack by food monsters

the new recipe for carrot date cake studded with cashew nuts n grated carrots was put to cool on the kitchen tabletop so its breakfast food.i warned the food monster not to touch it.when i woke up this morning,the food monster attacked a chunk for late nite supper.irresistible ,super moist n fragrant he declared.a very tasty recipe saying he wanted to review the food.i put in only one egg,used corn oil,water from presoaked dates and the cake mix.i added pinch of cumin,cinnamom,nutmeg,grated ginger and vanilla.i meant to do a topping of cream cheese this morning but the ugly hole made me give up the creamcheese topping.the next time i will put the cake in my bedroom marble table to lock it up.ugh greedy food monster.

New recipe

bloody hell,age is catching up.when i went to Thai temple for a blessing and chanting by resident monks,we,devotees kneel on floor as a sign of respect.when i tried to get up from the floor,my arthritic knees went numb with pins and needles.i nearly topple over but Jun held one side of my arm and luckily the guy to my right held my arms too and the two guys hoisted me up.i had to stabilise my body for a while before walking.now why cant temples give us low stools to sit as dont expect chronically arthritic devotees to kneel or squat for an hour.the cushions they give are too soft for us to stand up.better change with the times before they lose elderly devotees with bad knees n bad backs. for two days my arthritic finger joints throb with pain n feel stiff.i struggled to cook spaghetti bolognaise with vegetarian minced soymeat and a mushroom soup for lunch.the food monster ate all the cake so im baking a new carrot,date and cashewnut cake.i also bought instant bread mix from bake with yen.its purpleberry with cranberry n green pumpkin seeds. for high tea,i ate mini quiche,drank a pot of Dilmah rose with french vanilla tea.i love the fragrance better than earl grey bergamot.ate avocado,banana n blueberry.i hope i can continue to eat good food.

Meeting an old colleague

At the park this morning i bumped into my excolleague Mr Al Mahdi who was exercising in the park with his son.We go back a long way working at the same college with him and me co organising summer camps for our students.Hes an open minded,optimistic guy with a louder than life laugh and when im feeling down,he cheers me up with his silly jokes.LOL is a good antidote to stress. Hes superfriendly and today when i asked his help ,he was so generous to extend a helping hand and a listening ear with no expectation of any return.This is the real Keluarga Malaysia he exemplifies.like Uztaz Ebit Liew who helps anyone regardless of race or religion.i felt so much better after chatting with him.i enjoyed looking at the beautiful blooming trees as i cant grow trees on my balcony garden.the flowers looked lovely with butterflies and bees hovering.

There is a truism in the Chinese proverb "When the tree falls,the monkeys scatter." or in Malaysia,"When the pond dries up,the frogs start jumping." maka tunggu masa si katak lompat!!!

Torn n tattered clothes

so angry with Jun who spends on buying car spare parts when he should buy new clothes..im angry he secretly replaced the audio system in my car with a boom box that vibrates when he listens to his ear splitting music in the car.i refuse to let him change my tyre rims to fanciful nonsense or put a spoiler to spoil my sedan car.The torn and tattered t shirts n shorts he wears are worse than the rags for my toilet.maybe im old school but coming from a tailor family,we mend torn clothes and patch holes.so is it fashion to wear ripped jeans.when his late grandma saw his ripped denim jeans she took her sewing machine to patch up all the gaping holes hanging by a few threads. thats appalling fashion to dress like a hobo. i just hope he gets shredded and get a ripped body ,not more torn n ripped jeans.whats fashionable next is a man who doesnt shave for years,doesnt wash long,tangled messy hair for weeks and doesnt bathe for days to smell like a skunk and his toe and fingernails unclipped like claws because its the in thing for men to look like hobos,dress like hobos and smell like hobos.yucks,vomit blood i would vouch anytime for K pop pretty boys that are so well groomed and glamour king over a macho he man who looks like a chauvinist pig and smells like one to boot. .its disgraceful he doesnt groom himself well and dresses like a homeless hobo.so how to find a wife looking like a vagrant by the kerb.the gaping holes in his shorts show i mended his holey pocket but now i refuse to mend any clothes n make him buy new T shirts n shorts.such a cheapskate guy wont get a wife.let him marry his Nissan,Toyota or Mazda. I will marry him off to the next girl that comes along by offering a dowry.must make him lose weight and go for matchmaking session soon.time and woman waits for no man.

Does more mean better or more infighting?

The whole of Japan is run by a cabinet of 21 state ministers and 26 deputies.the whole of Malaysia is run by a cabinet of 31 state ministers and 38 deputy ministers.But in a disaster crisis like an earthquake or a flashflood,which nation has better contingency planning and risk management? Enough said.Does more mean better services or more infighting and inefficiency?

Move on

i made friends with two elderly exercisers in the park.one is a Malay in his early 80s and the other a Chinese old lady who is 84.both are regulars at the park.i gifted both disposable raincoats as i hope they dont get drenched in sudden tropical thunderstorms. Both never gave up on staying fit in their 80s.the old lady still uses the outdoor gym equipment everyday and walks daily to the park all by herself.shes chatty,friendly and alert.they inspire me that in life no matter what happens,just move on.use it or lose it.the old lady had a tough life working on farms and it toughen her.she said"At my age,each new day is a bonus when you can wake up,walk by yourself,have the appetite to eat and get a good nights sleep." Be thankful for small things and keep moving.

Dinner n breakfast

today i ate Japanese sushi,potato salad n matcha almond latte for lunch.dinner i cooked korean sweet potato noodle japchae with mock meat n vegetables with pu er tea.at the same time as dinner i simultaneously baked french pastry mini quiche lorraine with cherry tomato,spinach,chicken peppperonin cheese.a cooking marathon as cleaning up is messy.

Grocery shopping.

i run around a few supermarkets to buy bargain groceries.From Tesco Lotus i bought Kenya avocado and malaysia red dragon fruit for rm3.30 each.i got Dynamo clothes detergent at rm18.90 for a 2.4 kg disposable pack that cost rm 28 for a bottle.i managed to get 2 litre cooking oil in plastic packs that cost rm 5 so it can last 2 months.then i drove to theprovision store and bought 3 kilo of 10 grain brown rice mixed millet,quinoa n black rice.it cost rm6 a kilo so spent rm18 which will last us 2 months coz i cook lunch n dinner at home. then off to Aeon supermarket where igot Kale at rm 4.90 a pack,china brocolli at rm 3.70,green kiwi fruit from Italy at rm2.50 each,a box of blueberry from Zimbabwe at rm 10.90.the price of chicken is still affordable.happy i got 5 chicken drummet at rm8.oo,a pack of free range chicken at rm10.90 and a pack of CP premarinatedl barbeque chicken chop at rm12.since i dont dine out a lot at restaurants,i bought a packet of sushi at rm11.90 and a japanese potato salad at rm3.90.dining out will cost me rm 28 or 30 for the same meal. i bought a bunch of red coral lettuce at rm2.20 a bunch from E Petani,which is pricey.i made a matcha latte with almond milk,ate the red cherry and happy tummy for a delicious lunch.love of good food as it unites all Malaysians regardless of race or religion.its only the politicians who use the race and religion card to divide and rule us.
