Why cant China ministry of culture and private firms sponsor a Olympic style mass square dance competition in Beijing for square dance teams from all over the world.
If a smartphone maker like Oppo can use an older model like Maye Musk to promote its latest phone model,then why not do branding by sponsoring square dance international competition for participants all over the world.the different styles of dancing from Afrobeat to Bollywood,the latin american rumba and salsa to malay ,thai or vietnamese line dance all have variety and endorse the Global Civilization Intiative of China to embrace multipolarity
We can keep fit and have fun competing on an international stage so be inclusive to elderly besides sports for youths and disabled in Olympics.Look at K pop culture among foreign nations and cheerleading teams in sports that has extended soft power of south koreans and americans to reach pop culture status and popularising south korean electronic products,food and skincare n cosmetics to american fastfood and sports clothing,so promote line dance to young and old.the young can do breakdance n hip hop moves while the old can sway and twirl so dance bridges generation gap and foreign diversity.thats my pipe dream coz a marathon is out of my league but not dancing.As long as Im alive and kicking,im hopeful of taking part in dance competitionz so give oldies a chance to get a goldie.
