Worlds apart,shared lives
Although we are worlds apart,generation gap wise,geographically one in south east asia and the other in another corner of the globe in Canada,one a queer and the other a hot hen,we live the same lives as diaspora Chinese away from our motherland.Our past is tied to our grandparents,their tender, loving ,doting care and our window to past lives.when they depart from this world,a window is closed forever.this loss leaves a hole in our hearts that is never closed literally.
The poem by Emily Yi Ling Ma of British Columbia called Eat the bitterness reminds me of my grandmas advice xian ku,hou tian.first taste the bitterness,the sweetness will come later on
