Domestic goddess
Martha Stewart and Nigella Lawson are the idol domestic goddess of the western culinary world but look at their well equipped and super organized kitchen and im in heaven.
My small condo wet and dry kitchen doesnt have an island or built in upper shelf cabinets, just kitchen trolleys, dish rack and appliance open shelf. Its so disorganized and messy.the bloody cat.jumped onto the kitchen table top next to the sink and piss on the wall
He smelled the fishy bloody smell as i gutted the fish and trimmed the shrimps on the kitchen top and he smelled the aroma of fish n shrimp.
made me hit the roof as this morning i had to sterilise and disinfect the kitchen top, walls n sink thoroughly.took the chance to clean inside the fridge as the international cuisine i cook means lots of exotic spices, sauces n herbs.i put them in ziplock bags, transparent plastic boxes and labelled outside with Malay,Indian,Chinese,Western,Middle
eastern,Thai,Korean,Japanese labels.
My fridge magnets bought by Jun called me crazy cat lady and a cat reader.so tough to organize in a small kitchen with no shelves or upper kitchen cabinets.
But its better than the kampung kitchen of my aunt staying in rural villages. They use firewood and charcoal to cook, its dank and smoky,to get water, they go to the well outside the kitchen to draw buckets of fresh water that they put into a sand filter.
But hell that traditional kitchen cooked delicious double boiled lotus soup with peanuts cooked in charcoal fire i n claypots, the best grilled fish over woodfire so when Jun dreamt of Po Po,he associated her with awesome Cantonese soup like peanuts with lotis root n dried oysters, red dates or watercress soup with dried soya beans and dried squid. He asked me to cook the soup and i asked him to order it in restaurants as it need long hours of patience to boil the peanuts n soya beans.i may try cooking his favourite middle eastern food of pita bread with chicken shawarma or nasi mandy and grilled kebabs.
