Congrats wushu winners

Our Malaysian girls have done us proud at World University Games in Chendu,China. 20 year old Mandy Chen won a bronze at taijiquan and 22 year old Tammy Tan  won a gold at qiangshu spear event.

Credit should go to dedicated wushu sifu who coached the students to greater achievement and pushed them to excel at international level

its no small feat when Malaysia is the underdog compared to traditional giants of  wushu rivals like China,Hong Kong and Macau..Accolades to excellent wushu coach for grooming young talents so that its not seen as an exercise for elderly and aging practitioners.

For traditional culture to develop and grow,we need young blood. As with the lion dance teams,Malaysian lion dance teams have achieved international acclaim for its daring stunts on stilts and acrobatic moves.this is because it was introduced to students in school as a form of sports and frequent competitions at Genting and so on hone the skills of lion dance teams to innovate and evolve to impress judges

Juns college mates from damansara new village are two brothers well trained in lion dance as their father was a master trainer who coached them from small.we need to develop training curriculum and set standards for the traditional arts to grow and evolve so its not a dying art.
