Has régulatory n enforcement kept up with tech crimes
Has our law and enforcement agencies kept up to date with the advanced technology of crimes. Its ok when tackling low level crimes as when using knives or guns to steal and rob but in this tech age,you dont need guns n weapons but use tech to steal, swindle and rob.The hackers are getting sophisticated with bitcoin.cryptocurrency, love scams, investment scams, police n bank scams.
I just saw a sophisticated scam on a sponsored site in Youtube that was faked. It showed a purported CGTN news interview of Malaysian Prime Minister YB Anwar Ibrahim being interviewed on how to help relieve poverty PMX supposedly said no need to work hard or long hours to get a living wage just invest in a cryptocurrency trading scheme and this get rich scheme will make you rich instantly.PMX asked the reporter to invest rm 250 into the account, took hold of the reporters handphone, clicked on the site and within 20 minutes earned rm50 extra.
This too good to be true crypto scheme is endorsed by our PMX himself.Firstly why should a Prime Minister want to promote this website link to a China reporter?
Is it to get mainland China investors and if só it should be through trade or bilateral joint ventures not through instant get rich scheme.secondly the site claimed that Bank Negara asked CGTN to delete that part of the interview as it threatens financial forex regulation.Somethings fishy so you cant double check and verify the clip.
MCMC should block such sponsored sites as it tarnish the reputation of our PMX and CGTN,a reputable news website which shows the greed of the reporter to be involved in promoting scams.Really the audacity of scammers to use figures of authority to endorse their scams is too much.
