Tan Dun avant garde composer

i viewed Tan Duns music composition Buddhas passion Heart Sutra played by Shanghai Symphony orchestra.it is bold n visionary story of a princess who marries a foreign king ,crosses the desert of the silk road and meets a mystical monk.the female soloist sings like the beijing opera style but the monk plays a momgolian erhu and chants mantra in low guttural voice.what a stark contrast in pitch but somehow he fuses the contradictory elements so well in a harmonious soundscape.what an avant garde composer who challemges the norm!!!
