Elderly abandoned

Filial piety is a thing of the past.It used to be the chinese have childten as a security in old age to have someone to care for them when they are sick and invalid.nope its a  thing thats dying out.

Look at ExTVB actress Lee Fung and former martial artist Gordon Liu.Both are in their mid 60s and were in poor health. They were married once and had 2 to 3 childten and ex spouses. Now they are staying in old folks homes with no childtren and ex spouses looking after them.

Gordon Liu at least had good friemds who visit him and help him out but Lee Fung is old and forgotten.its heart breaking that we dont cherish our parents when they are old so i really have huge respect for Chef Wan for taking such good care of his sick elderly mom himself  at his own home and even giving up jobs that would take him away from home for long periods.it really speaks a lot for the mans charscter that "syurga letak di tapak kaki ibu."

But its shocking that between 2018 and now, more than 2,000 eldetly Malaysians were found abandoned at hospitals and bus stops. Some had childten and family which refused to acknowledge them.its really so much going against Asian values that respect the elderly.Justin Cheah of Kechara soup kitchen said half of the those coming for free meals are the elderly homeless.Volunteers like the indian doctor of Teddys free clinic sees a lot of elderly with chronic diseases left untreated.unless there is a geriatic ward, the elderly with dementia and alzeiheimer who are rescued are placed in government hospitals in the psychiatric ward. There has to be public advocacy for sick ,homeless elderly Malaysians who have been abandoned like stray dogs or cats.

In Japan, the elderly die alone at home and no one knows until neighbours complain of rotten stench.i read how a Japanese actress who had cancer died alone in hospital and no one came to claim her body for burial until authorities had to cremate her.

Man is born alone, lives alone and dies alone.

Reread novel on the 5 people you meet in heaven written by Mitch Albom. His debut novel Tuesday with Morries had a great impact on me at a time of sickness and death of a loved one.this novel on 5 people impacted a pre teen Jun so much that he wrote an e mail thanking the author for his comforting idea of the meaning of death.in the 5 people you meet in heaven,an important lesson is everything happens for a reason.
