Separate religion into private domain

in France,religion is confined to the private domain and not institutionalised in the public sphere.then there is less vested interest for politicians to manipulate the masses using the tools of religious autocracy.an example can be seen in the US ,when abortion is banned,illicit abortions would threaten the health of mothers who use underground services.this impinges on the right of women to reproductive health services. religious authorities could also exert undue influence in countries that ban women from accessing education or careers.so in certain countries ,it causes discrimination against minority of a different faith or even of the same religion but a different denomination. Is religion relevant in the age of reason,science and technology as atheistd like sam harris and richard dawkins argue. i was viewing a dialogue by tzu chi on the future of buddhism and the historical perspective of its developmemt in china. as it evolved,it got assimilated into the local practices of taoism n confucianism and changed from that practised in historical times in india. some monks started a radio talk show podcast in thailand to interact with citizens facing mental stress during covid and made light hearted jokes to offer comic relief.they were critized by the more conservative monastic bureaucrats.thats why when monks isolate themselves in their ivory tower,they lose touch with reality on the ground and the understanding of problems of lay people.kyentse norbu gave a talk on vajrayana buddhism n its future in berlin.he was critical of the intermingling of dharma with traditionsl bon tibetan rituals so much so overemphasis is placed on the forms over the function of religion. tzu chi doesnt classify into certain criteria of buddhist sect .it adapted to make itself relevant to young people who prefer to walk the talk and learn dharma by acting and not by belief alone.they also brought up the new age organization like sokka gakai and friends of the western buddhist order.lay people are more involved in the running of these organizations and they somehow become involved in worldly affairs of running business conglomerates or involved in politics like komeito in japan.so to what extent should their influence reach? the master disciple relation becomes weakened when unscrupulous abuse of power is highlighted.where worldly affairs impinge on religious life,money and sex becomes implicated in the running of some organizations. what is the relevance of religion if not to offer a way out of wotldly concerns
