Reunion dinner

its giving me a headache trying to arrange seating in my small apartment for the new year reunion dinner for my sisters n nephews n nieces.a person will have to sit on a stool and i open a foldable table.have to place some dishes on a trolley.use disposable bowls n chopsticks to lessen washing up.use disposable table cloths. yeah my small apartment may be cramped but its nice to eat altogether as a family.i grew up in half a shophouse where all of us slept in one room.some like me slept in the fitting room while sisters slept in double decker beds.9 people share one bathroom and one toilet. the round dining table held good food to celebrate birthdays,moon cake and dragon boat festivals with neighbours,cousins,grandpa n granma.so now the quality of life has improved.we have two toilets in my apartment,air con in living room n bedrooms,fancy cooking gadgets like blenders n mixers n induction cookers.so its a blessing that we are all healthy and able to sit together to dine on good food this year.eating chicken and duck used to be a luxury reserved for festivals but this year i omit chicken,duck,pork n beef as our health cant take fatty food.

.only eat seafood and steam or stir fried.drink chinese tea ,no fizzy soft drinks.only concession is nien gao n tang yuen for symbolic reasons. the other day,i visited my old childhood home.it looks very small n cramped but i had happy memories growing up there in a loving,carefree environment in an extended family.i can buy new clothes now instead of mom sewing our new year clothes.i can buy decorations for the home instead of us grandkids cutting patterns on red paper to paste on pomelos n arrowheads.i can order expensive buddha jump over the wall soup online thro food app or poon choy if i crave them.so the quality of life has progressed from my childhood days and its a blessing that i hope will remain that tomorrow will be better than the past,to have a decent home n good food to eat.as Zhang Yi Mou showcased in his movie "To Live",the chinese family has survived the hardship of war and poverty and can now enjoy a better standard of living. thats our Fook ,its wealth ,dont fucking mix it up.
