Movie review of bestseller China movie YOLO

I got senior citizen discount n viewed the highest grossing movie in Chinese cinema YOLO.I would say the storyline isnt orginal as its lifted from the Japanese movie 100 yen love. But the cinematography adapts to the lower middle class context well with scenes of everyday life instead of a beautiful heroine and her prince charming.Jia Ling puts in a twist as she directed n acted as the lead actress who transforms her life by realising self love and loses 50 kg to learn to box to enter a boxing competition.i like that there is no happily ever after ending as she gains the self confidence to turn down her ex lover boxer trainer as he sold out his dream of winning for easy money.though she didnt win the boxing competition, she put up a good fight that impressed her opponent and gym owner.i had a few laughs at the heroine as when the going got tough, the tough got going.this film will appeal to an international audience as the struggles of obesity, social isolation, infidelity and being a misfit would be identified by any woman atruggling to find herself in a world that values appearance, family conflict and betrayal by best friends.this movie also lifts ideas from hong kong movie starring sammi cheng n andy lau called love on a diet and there is involvement of the hero in boxing in which he acts as a live punching bag. but the leads wear fatsuits but the way Jia Ling worked out to gain the muscular body of a boxer is truly commendable of her dedication to her craft and her professionalism not to use AI to appear slim.it gives hope to those losing weight not to give up and persevere to the end
