If i need to redo my interior,i will decorate according to japanese wabi sabi.it will be peaceful, neutral, understated elegance with rustic simplicity in wood furnishings, muted colours of taupe, cream n white, shoji screens, bamboo furnishing n folding screens, indoor koi fountain n a tokonoma with tatami mats. Four shoji screens face an inner courtyard with a zen garden in the middle.one can view the clouds drifting by, the wind rustle the branches, hear trickling water, see snow fall on weathered rocks n glow of stone lantern.at the corner is a sunken onsen bath.one can soak in it after pulling down bamboo curtains all around the courtyard.a huge glass tower is placed opposite which is a gigantic acquarium with koi fishes.
Nylon mesh covers the skylight above so birds can fly in inner courtyard and sing to the dawn.
Sitting in the hot onsen ,look at the stars above at night, smell the fragrant white flowers and savour the oneness with nature.thats Japanese aesthetic that engages the four senses and experience the four season.a rooftop garden will do but how to get privacy
.the black plate i got is not perfectly shaped so its beautiful in its imperfection.i like the wabi sabi spirit ,the use of decaying wood in floral decoration of ikebana.the suggestion of passing of time in weathered wood pieces of furnishing.
Reading on the japanese aesthetics in essay In praise of shadows,i come to appreciate the interplay of shadow n light.Tanizaki Junichiros return to stay in Kyoto gave him a appreciation in refinement of traditional architecture, the overhanging eaves of verandah where one can listen to raindrops trickling to the ground, the blur images reflected on shoji screens and the tokonoma.Tanizaki saw the beauty of the shadows and condemn the overly illuminated brightness of modern buildings.i think hes a big influence on architect Tadao Andos architectural aesthetic.
