On this calm evening,i and Jun visited the vihara to offer prayers to the departed.we did a transfer of merit chant with the sri lanka bhante.it was saddening to know of venerable punnajis death as he was an excellent meditation and dharma teacher who taught Jun at a retreat 8 years ago.he died peacefully in his sleep at 88 years old in Kandy,his birthplace.
When i lighted a candle at the altar,a Singhalese aunty taught me to chant the Pali prayer for offering flowers and light to lord Buddha.It was comforting to reflect on the impermanence of life and the enlightenment of nibbana.may all beings seen and unseen be well and happy.sadhu,sadhu ,sadhu
