The 8 immortals or Ba Xin in taoist folklore,one carrying a clutch,a gourd,a fan,a lotus,a basket,a flute etc. Temples worship the white tiger but in Sarawak its the Malayan tiger n local deity like datuk kong.so the Chinese has taken local contexts like my Sarawak Chinese student who drinks tuak with his girlfriends father an Iban native during Gawai.the natives had high regard for the copper tools of chinese migrants and their dragon pottery jars.
Im gonna sew an ikat sarong i bought at the bazaar.i appreciate ethnic craftsmanship like the fine beaded necklaces.
