10 lessons for a post pandemic world

Reading again fareed zakarias book gave me fresh hope in the current stalemate of the current affairs.

"A functional multi lateral system offers a chance to solve common problems.the pandemic illustrates perfectly the risks n opportunities of an interconnected world.the crisis is by nature global, affecting all rich and poor nations.none is secure unless all can have some measures of security.environmental problems likewise require collective action.

Cyberspace is an arena that knows no borders.climate change is the most dramatic example of a global challenge because it could threaten human survival itaelf and cant be solved without sustained cooperation among all.

If we dont find a way to have some framework of cooperation,we will face a world of unrestricted nationalist competition.its perils are harrowing, yet vastly understated.if the US and China, the world 2 most dynamic and technologically advanced nationd, were to descend into a no holds barred conflict from the militarization of space to the weaponizing of cyberspace, fueled by an arms race in AI,,the results would be catastrophic.it would certainly mean the end of the kind of world that we have been building-an open world of global trade, travel, and communication, with common efforts to alleviate poverty and fight disease.cold war 2 can be avoided but only thro some sustained process of diplomacy and cooperation ideally involving other major powers like the EU and India.

We have made huge progress whether looking back decades or centuries.the %  of children in schools has shot up.the rights of women has been enlarged, commerce has increased 5 fold while crime has greatly diminished.

The liberal international order of our time is incomplete and has had many faults.it has seen much misery, conflict and hypocrisy.but on the whole it has bettered the lives of more people than any previous systems humans have lived with.the idealism underlying liberalism is simple and practical.if people cooperate, they will achieve better outcomes and more durable solutions than they could acting alone.if nations can avoid war, their people will lead longer, richer and more secure lives.if they become intertwined economically, everyone ends up better off.it is not a flight of fancy to believe that cooperation can change the world.it is common sense.
