Holistic education is not just about gaining knowledge or the paper chase but inculcating ethics and teaching social skills are important for functional purpose in communal living.
So home based education may inculcate values but lack the chance to teach social skills in real life when children mix with others from all races,religion and social class.Working in teams teach cooperative and supportive skills lacking in home based education
Glad jun is coming out of his man cave.He is hanging out with his bestie Malay friend who has worked as an excolleague .i encouraged him to bring over his friends from Myanmar as guests in my home or cook a nyonya lunch for his Singaporean friends or hang out at nite with his Thai friend on holiday.so next week when his friend from hong kong comes to kuala lumpur for the first time,i ask him to bring his pal over to try home cooked nyonya cuisine like pie tee and ayam pong teh.i will have a chance to try out my newly bought mechanical ice shaver machine to make cendol.i love introducing nyonya food to visitors as it showcase the very best of Malay and Chinese fusion food.
