Personality cult

the lecture by sinologist from hong kong willy wo lap lam 6 years ago at china us institute in usc was really analytical on the unpublicized agenda of Xi Jing Ping.he espoused that its a remake of personality cult of the helmsman mao rather than visionary reformer deng xiao peng.there is agenda to consolidate power by eliminating political opponents.there is less segregation of power between political party machinery and the public administration of bureaucracy as envisioned by deng xiao peng.but he says xi jing peng has worked himself up thro grassroot level rather than usual pulling strings to get cushy posts as a privileged princeling so he has understanding of big issues from grassroot perspective.his china dteam is borrowed from the ideals of the 100 days reform and he tries to control the partys carefully cultivated image by controlling big tech and social media .thats why the govt s trying to rein in celebrity control on social media, clamp down on social influencers and private tutoring to retain control of the official propaganda and limit the gateway to official account of reality as perception is key to control of mass media. the idea of a prosperous nation aided by a strong military sees his use of maos strategy that power lies in the barrel of a gun.so he tightens command of the military thro reorganization of its chain of command.in a way hes astute looking at how in many countries instability ensues when coup d tat happens when the military seizes power by overthrowing political leaders like in thailand n myanmar or in african nations, military dictators establish dynasty to retain power. its not easy administering such a populous nation as china but looking at the track record, the central govt has improved the economic development of the people by reducing absolute poverty, uplifting the education system and improving infrastructure to a well developed nation within 50 years.in 1980s when i visited china, the quality of life was not as good as malaysia but it has progressed within less than half a century to a nation that is looked upon as a scientifically and technologically advanced nation on par with western nations.
