India's foreign minister

just viewed an interview Indias external minister S Jaishankar gave at an international forum.im impressed by how articulate and assertive he is in defending Indias policies to the world and his superb command of the English language enables diplomatic astute explanations that put to shame our top administrations failure to defend Malaysias policies at world forum as their eloquence in language for international communication is curtailed by inadequacy and non ability to communicate at global level.how to justify to world purchasers on the sustainibility of palm oil against anti palm oil lobbies with powerful interests or convince the world the nation is not corrupt, unfair, racist or elitist.a convincing argument of India external minister is Europe should get out of the mindset that Europe's problem is the world's problem but the world's problem is not Europe's problem.it hits spot on the double standards and hypocrisy of the West in defending the self intetest of its own population but denies the sovereign right of the other Asian nation to protect its own self interest.the interview showed how he handled foreign journalist questions tactfully without resorting to disparaging comments like thats a stupid question.there are no stupid questions ,only people who fail to communicate well in reply by saying proudly "I no speak England." A politician in the role of running a nation has to communicate the government policies to the world at large on the international arena.how are they going to promote the nation to foreign investors, international financial institutions, foreign diplomats and journalists if they depend on translators.already their job is made easy for them when researchers do basic groundwork and speechwriter draft their speech in English so all they need to do is read the contents in English from a teleprompter.Of course they must understand the content of the speech themselves so at question and answer time, they can explain, clarify and justify the points made.but when they dont use an international language to communicate, they are incomprehensible to the audience this doesnt aid mutual understanding.look at how Dr M can give lucid arguments when interviewed by BB C on Hard Talk.look at how vociferous Rafidah Aziz is at international forum explaining to foreign reporters. But when you dont use an international language to communicate, miscommunication happens as meaning is lost in translation.the speaker is also avoiding the opportunity to answer queries from foreign journalists either because they are not well prepared with the facts and figures or their proficiency is limited to simple interactions. no point attending international forums or conferences if its just for a paid vacation and photo op sessions to rub shoulders with international figures of authority.
