Strap of sandal snapped

i bought the pair of sandals a year ago at Bata for a bargain rm18.the strap snapped while i was walking so i felt not worth to pay rm10 to cobbler to glue back strap.i went to a bookshop, bought a box of thumb tacks for rm1 it fixed the sandals and i could use it but the thumb tacks felt like foot reflexology soles. Jun was mad that i was so cheapskate.he warned that if the thumbtack dropped out while i was walking,it would pierce the sole of my foot and injure it.then i cannot exercise for a few months.theres a reason shoes use glue to stick together the soles for industrial safety.he wanted to throw away my sandals to make me buy a new pair. so i listened to his advice and went to a shoe shop offering bargain sales.buy one pair and the next pair is half price.so i got a good bargain. the last time i bought a pair of cheap sports shoe at streetside stall for rm24.it was lousy design as the soles were made of synthetic rubber and the grooves of the sole were not deeply cut.i nearly slipped n fell while hiking on a slippery muddy slope so when i told Jun,he threw away the sports shoes and bought me a pair of Asics track shoes.it can last me 3 years as i exercise daily, and the fit is so comfortable i dont get heel pain or aching knees as i do diverse sports from zumba, line dancing, outdoor gym and hiking.its a good buy as Jun says it reduces sports injury when the shoes are well designed with goodf cushion and grip.i understand now that i cannot afford to fall at my age or a hip surgery will disable me for a year or so.
