Beat the heat and blues

Music and painting and movies help me overcome the blues.ive been attending wakes n funerals more than joyous events.so happy to get a wedding invitation card from my cousin whose eldest son is getting married in June and my cousins siblings coming back from Canada,UK,USA and Singapore.time for family reunion n good chinese banquet.i like yam seng. The heat is making me crazy n feeling blue.it was zumba in the morning .i love the remix of stephen chows movie songs like grilled chicken wings mixed with mandarin music.real creative Malaysian DJ . Last nite i watched an Indian movie Monkey Man directed n acted by Dev Patel.A UK born Indian,he is a cool creative director n scriptwriter mixing traditional sacred Hindu myth like Ravana n Hanuman with the sacrilegious tale of drug crazed hedonistic playclubs with corrupt police force, hajras transgender, hookers and crooked politicians.he juxtaposed the dreary homeless of slums with the pristine jungles of india.its a bloody original idea The choreography is fast paced, pulsating thrilling with indian motorised tuk tuk chase, fast cars and raw energy of fight clubs .its taken lessons from Hong Kong action movies,Hollywood n Bollywood with gory violence, dangerous stunts and succinct dialogues including religious bhajan so dont miss the movie.its helluva original unlike Yolo that was lifted from the themes in a japanese and hong kong movie.dev patel has grown n progressed from an actor in slumdog millionaire,a fairy tale rags to riches tale to a socially realistic modern tale.i like the line pain teaches us something and once youve learned its bitter lesson, you grow stronger like the germans say that which does not kill you will make you strong.i love the mix of the profound n the profane in monkey man,the duality that manifests in cosmic consciousness that the beast n god coexist in one, that male and female energy coexist in human and hanuman is half beast and half god.hanuman be came monkey king in chinese legend.it took buddhas power to tame him to seek goodness after he was trapped under a mountain for his misdeeds like stealing peach of longetivity.so to see fusion of chinese and indian culture in movies like Jackies Chan Kung Fu Yoga is bold and creative. .so i feel to revive Hong Kong movie industry, inject new blood like the overseas born Chinese who bring international perspectives that draw international audience. in the evening i viewed a stunning sunset and then i cooked sticky rice in coconut milk or lemang in aluminium foil, and nasi kunyit or tumeric sticky rice, grilled a dozen sticks of chicken satay with peanut sauce n a cucumber salad. then listened to old songs by leslie cheung n anita mui and got the mood to draw n paint, painted some lotus on the round fan that i will use for chinese dances.painting brings me to a calm m meditative state of mind.i feel so at peace as i browsed through the art books i borrowed from the library showcasing Malaysian artists depiction of nature in our nation.Chew Teng Beng a Terengganu born artist paints scenes of malaysian kampung n abstract expressionism n his works are so diverse in range n techniques
