Before the big makan at Canton kitchen tonite i make sure kitty also enjoys a gourmet dinner for the festival.hes a member of the family. had a great time eating and meeting up with my late dads youngest sister who is 83 now,my eldest cousin dai biu jie,my younger cousins and their children.3 tables of noisy diners cheering tossing yee sang.my cousin who is a fantastic home cook inherited my fourth aunts culinary skill n when she showed us recipes of her roast pork and tong po belly pork,we salivated.Our aunts ,uncles n cousins grew up in big extended family as every weekend we gather at our shophouse with grandparents staying with us and do a big cooking session.We stayed at aunts homes for holidays and played games together.so altho cousins have married n migrated to the US,Canada,the UK and Singapore,we meet during lunar new year to celebrate the good food and good times.The Chinese saying gar wo man see hing is so true when the family is harmonious,all things will prosper.
