Yen yat or every human birthday

its a blessing to be born into the human realm so on the 7th day of lunar new year,the Cantonese celebrate Yen Yat or every mans birthday.i do it today as yen yat falls on a working day. Im gonna cook poon choi or prosperity bowl with mini abalone ,mock sea cucumber,scallop,fish maw,lion mane mushroom,bamboo fungus,sea moss and dried oyster.braised for 3 hours.fried brocolli with dried oysters n dried sea moss,steam tiger garoupa and sea prawns and a crab chowder with real crab meat dessert is osmanthus jelly with goji berry.
im gonna cook up a storm but early in the morning i sit in front of garden enjoying birds song,butterflies flitting around flowers and reading the morning newspaper while eating my breakfast of char siew bao and osmanthus jelly with a flask of hot green tea.its so peaceful and i call it the calm before the storm.i chatted with my neighbour over the fence and he complimented my english cottage garden ,a mass of plants and blooms.

lucky i used disposable bowl,plate n spoons to reduce chore of washing up. my nephew,niece n elder sister love the poon choy mix of seafood n mushrooms as its so rich with textures n flavours.im happy to see them enjoying my cooking and to catch up with our lives.
