Dai Pai Dong

the Dai Pai Dong or street food hawker is a ubiquitous sight in Asian cities .Hong Kongs cheap food for working class people started as stalls outside street corners with a few stools and foldable tables.its nothing fanciful ambience but really tasty food.i love the macaroni in chicken soup n liver cooked Hong Kong style.the documentary on Vice Asia showcase Sing Heong Yuen famous macaroni tomato soup with different toppings and crispy lemon bread.the iconic stall has been around 45 years.the documentary showcase how the stall invented its famous macaroni soup, snippets of how they start the working day,the street cats n pet dog and the responses of different customers.it made me long to try a bowl of macaroni soup n the home baked crispy bread.so yummy delicious.reminds me of the iconic curry laksa at madras lane in petaling street and the fried hokkien mee kim lian kee that late mom and dad used to love eating and took us there to savour.lao zhu pai is nostalgic food
