Are we ready to face climate change?

When i viewed the documentary An Inconvenient Truth and the 11th Hour a decade ago,i thought it was just hype and overexaggeration on effects of climate change.

Now we are facing the age of consequences for refusing to change our ways of life.

The terrifying floods in Shah Alam,Selangor,Johor  and the devastating damage to homes, cars and businesses is a reminder Malaysia has not taken proactive measures to mitigate climate change. How about the landslide due to heavy rainfall that buried people alive in the camping sites of BatangKali

What can the government and individuals do to combat climate change?Look at how unprepared Hong Kong was in unprecedented heavy flooding leading to damaged infrastructure and loss of lives.Look at the devastation of the wildfires in Maui island in Hawaii.Look at the widespread wildfires and now heavy flooding in Greece or the landslides in northern India or in China.

.For urban drivers caught in flashfloods, there should be early warning system on digital  advertising billboards to warn drivers to avoid certain areas.for those trapped in their cars, have inflatable kayaks at the passenger seat to make a quick exit or  life vests for those who cant swim.there should be high rise multi level car parks in flood prone areas where motorists can quickly drive to park their cars.the car parks should have food vending machines and toilets for those who cant drive home immediately.

Food security is another aspect of the economy threatened by climate change.Has the government stockpiled enough food staples for sustaining the citizens in case severe drought or flooding threatens food supply and stability of food prices.view the documentary on climate change The 11th hour. The hope is you and me
