To live and die well

Wellness is good health.but while we stress on living well, are we familiar with how to die well

lts associated with fear, anxiety and negativity but dying is part of living and shouldnt be taboo.if living in pain and suffering becomes so unbearable and costly, then we should have the option to make a quick exit.why should the state have the right to decide who should live or who should die.The state condemns certain crimes by giving the death sentence but if a terminally sick patient is living every minute in pain, then isnt it worst than a death sentence.Death becomes a relief from terrible pain and suffering.so euthanasia should be an individuals choice ,not the prerogative of the state.the state shouldnt interfere in civil liberty like couples should have children to repopulate a nation or forced contraception to prevent overpopulation.similarly if a sick patient wants an assisted death,it should be legalised.why burden the family members with costly medical care and caregivers fatigue when the disease is incurable.so how to die well should be part of the medical professionals training as doctors should not play god as they dont understand what it is to be in the shoes of the sufferer.the book by a doctor paul kalanithi when breadth becomes air was a bestseller and describes the humbling experience of facing up to his own demise.it opened my eyes when i read it.
